LETTERS TO THE EDITOR As a member of the Thompson Collectors Association, I have some information that might be of interest to you for publication in the THOMPSON COLLECTOR NEWS. My uncle, Marion B. Daugherty, earned a Thompson Sub Machine Gun during his enlistment in WWII. In addition, he owned a 1921 Colt Thompson (Serial # 160), which he gave to me. Attached is a letter from the War Department, circa February 1945, concerning a CITATION FOR AWARD OF BRONZE STAR MEDAL. On this letter is a picture of Private Marion B. Daugherty Jr. holding a M1A1 which he used on the combat patrol for which he earned a Bronze Star Medal. This letter speaks volumes of all those who served and sacrificed in WWII. I owe my interest in the "Thompson" to him. You may use this information for publication. Larry D. Daugherty |
