In 2000 I asked each member to consider
donating $20 each to help fund the NRA Gun Collectors Conference in
Columbus, OH that was hosted by the TCA. All of you came through
with flying colors, and we were able to fund the conference and to have
$1600 left over. This money and a lot of other money was used to fund
our display at the 2001 NRA Convention in Kansas City. Here we displayed
the Thompsons presented to Theodore Eickhoff and Oscar Payne. Both
events were a big success and really showed our hobby off in a positive
way. At no time was any of this money used to pay TCA members
salaries or expenses. It was used, I think, to good effect for our
causes.
This past August, the Board of Directors
of the TCA voted to take a display to the Orlando NRA Convention in
April 25-27, 2003. The display will feature all five of the known Models
of 1919 in private hands, including the Thompson described in this
newsletter. However, we are again in need of funding. So I am
asking that each member consider a donation to the club (suggested $20,
less than the cost of two boxes of ammo) to help fund this exhibit.
We are also in need of help for persons to man the booth during the
hours of the convention. If interested please contact me at 740-587-0755
or feel free to mail donations of any amount to TCA, PO Box 8710,
Newark, OH 43055. |
