Dear Thompson Collector: Since my letter of June 25th 2002, I was successfully operated on and now have my new artificial knee. I would like to thank those of you who sent get well cards and made phone calls to me after my knee operation it was very nice to see that so many of you cared so much. I am healing up quite well. I went from a walker, to crutches, to a cane and at physical therapy they tell me that I am weeks ahead! Never less the pain is gone!! By the time you see me I should be much better than last April. Also, I have become aware that the proposed date of our next Thompson Show & Shoot April 19th & 20th of 2003, is conflicting with the Easter weekend. I looked at a new calendar for 2003 and decided the best thing to do is to move the date to the 5th & 6th the first weekend of April I hope that this change will be beneficial to all of you. I went to our local paper and looked up the weather for the past two years and found out that the temperature ranged from the mid 60’s to the low 70's. I would expect that we would have some wind so that will add more excitement to the competition. I also made this change for those of you who go to Knob Creek the second weekend of April and thereby can still make it there after the Western Thompson Show & Shoot. These dates also agree with The Mohave Sportsman Club schedule. I have had to attend two of their board meetings in order to plan our event. Their main concern is safety! They are not used to having guns shoot more than one shot at a time at their club and naturally our event seems to them as not a safe shoot or should I say an out of control event! So we as a group must show that we can have fun and be safe as well. As responsible owners of class 3 weapons, we owe this to our hobby, The Thompson Collectors Association, and also to those who watch what we do. At this time I am also enclosing the announcement for our next Thompson Show & Shoot. I know it’s early for some of you but here it is and please don’t misplace it! Better yet, fill it out and send it to me at your earliest convenience. The announcement should be in the November newsletter. Hope to hear from you soon. Sincerely,
