I had a discussion with Tracie as to why he had not
written anything about the Maxim Silencer in his book, to which he
replied: "I can only write about that which I have seen." I
decided to supply these photographs of a .45 Maxim. It appears to
be exactly the same as what's pictured in all of the Auto-Ordnance sales
literature of the period. This silencer was purchased from a
gentleman who had it mounted on a .410 shotgun for use on
shooting squirrels. Seems he didn't want to disturb the neighborhood.
The outside diameter of the tube is 15/16", overall
length is 7 3/16" (not including the threaded attachment) and appears in
near mint condition. So please enjoy the pictures.
