HISTORY OF THE BOX MAGAZINES

The last known and probably the rarest of all twenty round magazines are the twenty round magazines for the 7.62 Tork Russian Lend Lease Thompsons. At least two different manufacturers of these magazines have been seen-one with the Auto-Ordnance Bridgeport markings and the other is Sparks-Withington. These magazines were produced for specially made Thompsons sent to Russia during WWII. The TCN has run several articles showing these Thompsons.

A Brief Discussion Of The Way To Describe The Face Markings On The Box Magazines.

Several times I have had a conversation with someone on the phone and had a hard time getting across to him what type or which way the face markings on the magazine were facing. Therefore, I propose the following method. First, you hold the magazine with the face markings so that you can read the information from left to right. Secondly, you place both hands on the magazine at either end. Finally, decide which hand has the feed lips in it. If the feed lips are in the left hand then you have a "left hand" marked magazine. If the feed lips are in your right hand, then you have a "right hand" marked magazine.
