INTERNET WATCH This badge was offered up on e-bay auction site as "an 1890-1900 Bridgeport Police Auto Ordinance Badge. This badge was issued to the officer who worked at this ammunition factories prior to WWI." I received several calls on this badge. Now I will let you judge for yourselves. Is it real or fake? First, the description would be way off for Auto-Ordnance of Thompson fame. Secondly, I had knowledge of an Auto-Ordnance Chief's badge (see next page). The Chiefs badge does not use the term police, but "Plant Protection." Finally, look closely at the company name. AUTO ORDINANCE CORP. There is no hyphen between Auto and Ord. and Ordnance is misspelled as Ordinance. |
