"MY FIRST THOMPSON SHOW AND SHOOT"
BY
BRYCE RONNING
Having attended my first "Thompson Show and Shoot" with my son Glenn, I thought it would be
fitting to write a few lines to relate my impressions of the event. Firstly, I would like to thank the
members of "The American Thompson Association" for there hospitality and generosity shown to
us over the two days. I was very impressed with the display of Thompsons and associated bits at the
Thompson Center. I have always had a keen interest in antique and classic firearms and of course
the Thompson is on top of the classic list. With events such as this it goes without saying we learn
much from looking, talking and handling the many and varied Thompsons on display.
I felt the shoot on the Saturday was well conducted and I was more than impressed with the
professionalism and range safety. Thanks to the Friday pre-shoot briefing and the work of the range
officers, with special mention to Tracie Hill and Tom Rasch for their efforts. I would also like to
thank Tom James and Charlie LeCount for their generosity in allowing us to use their Thompsons.
There is no doubt that what you have is precious and must be retained at all costs. For to collect or
shoot any SMG in my country (Australia) is impossible and is never likely to change due to the
current firearm laws. So be ever watchful of changes of law that might effect "T.A.T.A."
I hope to attend many more "Thompson Show and Shoots" events in the years to come.

p.s. I never thought I would ever see 100 rounds fired through a Thompson in one burst- Well Done!
